INTO THE NEW NORMAL: THE JOSEPHIAN WAY OF EDUCATION IN SY 2020-2021

As the world grapples with this pandemic and schools are forced to shift to alternative modes of classes amidst uncertainties and shifting directions from the government, St. Joseph’s Academy is READY TO IMPLEMENT ITS LEARNING CONTINUITY PLAN: MODIFIED ONLINE DISTANCE LEARNING

St. Joseph’s Academy has been closely monitoring the Department of Education’s directives, and following the issuance of DepEd Order 012 s. 2020 (Adoption of Basic Education Learning Continuity Plan), and in compliance with DepEd Order 013 s. 2020 (Readiness Assessment Checklist of Learning Delivery Modalities), SJA, in consultation with academic and industry practitioners in the educational technology field, and the school’s stakeholders, will be adopting the Modified Online Distance Learning (MODL) program for school year 2020-2021.

SJA’s MODL is designed not just as a response to the national  educational crisis stemming from the global health crisis; it is meant to be a flexible digital learning program that ensures continuity of learning from the safety of every child and teacher’s homes, with no face-to-face class for the duration of the current school year. In the next school years, when the situation improves, SJA can transition into a blended learning  or hybrid learning set-up where lessons are delivered partly-online, partly face-to-face, with the latter supported by robust digital learning tools in the classroom.

View the recording of our Parents' Orientation on the MODL program for 2020-2021

MODL is also working on compliance with the The International Society for Technology in Education’s (ISTE) Standards for Students and Teachers. ISTE is the foremost international organization in teaching technology in the classroom. There are 7 ISTE Standards that SJA strives for students to meet beginning this school year: Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. We believe that post-pandemic, in the new normal, these standards and skills will be most necessary and useful to learners.

Josephian learners are 21st Century Learners, and boosted by our 21st Century Learning 5Cs--Catholic Core, Communication, Creativity, Collaboration, and Critical Thinking, they can thrive in these challenging times and  be formed into Christian individuals who can successfully navigate even more challenges and opportunities in the future,  in the service of God and  their fellowmen, by following  the footsteps of our Patron, Saint Joseph.

CENTER OF EXCELLENCE IN CATHOLIC K-12 EDUCATION

More than a century of Catholic formation, first by the CICM Belgian missionaries, and eventually by diocesan pastors of St. Joseph’s Parish Church (also known as the Bamboo Organ Parish, home of the world-renowned Las Pinas Boys Choir) in Las Pinas City, has established a K-12 Catholic Core education for 21st Century learners. Josephians thrive in the local bukluran culture, as well as the rigor and universality of STEAM- Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics. Josephians live by their core values: Simple, Jesus-centered Achiever. Available to serve.

        CAMPUS NEWS SY 2019-2020

COVID-19, the pandemic that has debilitated the world  and disrupted lives across the planet, has prompted the Philippine government to put Luzon under Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ), causing the school year to end abruptly, and for end of school year ceremonies to be cancelled. The Preschool Moving Up, and Grade School and High School Recognition programmes have sadly been cancelled, leaving only the two major ceremonies--Grade School and Senior High School Graduation--to happen on May 29. But even this is dependent on the crisis situation at that time, and the government's directives. Whatever happens, SJA will create either online or video programmes to commemmorate these milestones in the  academic lives of our students. Updates on these programmes shall be posted in this website in our social media pages.
